HOME OF THE YEAR

Series 12, Episode 3

Marc and Christine, Wicklow

Marc and Christine live in this spectacular new build in Wicklow with their children.

Having spent some time living abroad in Australia the family took some influences from architecture there to create a truly unique home. These included elements such as the large indoor/outdoor living area with multi-sliding doors which they wanted so that they could utilise the space, embrace outdoor living and entertaining, and the many overhangs which they wanted to ensure the house isn’t affected by extreme hot or cold weather conditions and to ensure it remains comfortable.

Christine and Marc love how they have created a sleek modern home with homely, functional and fun elements that is a hub for all their friends and loved ones.

Kelly and Fiachra, Clare

Kelly and Fiachra built their dream home on family land in Co Clare in 2024.

The couple went for a u-shaped design which makes the most of their breath-taking views and avoided using strong or bold colours inside. Instead, they went for an interior that is contemporary with a calm design to give a sense of peace and relaxation as soon as you walk through the front door.

Tara, Down

Tara lives in a former gate lodge in County Down. Prior to renovating, the building hadn’t been lived in for over 30 years and the renovation process was extensive, as the cottage had no running water or electricity with the ceiling on the verge of collapse.

The house was gutted entirely and now has been transformed into a cosy cottage featuring a blend of traditional and fun elements.

Tara’s love for old homes inspired the decor of the gate lodge, creating a home that she says makes her genuinely happy to live in each day.

When it came to the decor Tara has always loved old homes, so she wanted to ensure there is an element of traditional in the house while making sure the home has a big personality, so a mixture of classic and fun which she feels happy to live in each day.
