Presented by top interior designer Neville Knott, Showhouse sees two professional interior designers take over two identical new houses and compete to create the winning Showhouse.
This week the Showhouse challenge is taking place at Carlinn Hall in Dundalk, Co Louth. These identical two bed houses are aimed at first time buyers. The interior design budget is €25,000.
Barbara Derrane is a native of Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands. She now resides in Galway, she holds Diplomas in both Art and Interior Design She draws inspiration from nature and she aims to create a relaxed environment based on the colour scheme of the Aran islands. She believes nature “helps you feel grounded and more in touch with yourself and your surroundings”.
Her competitor is Mary Rattigan, from Tullamore, Co. Offaly, she wants to introduce touches of luxury and glamour creating a boutique hotel ambiance. The overall look for Mary’s showhouse is a modern look with luxurious, rich, classical touches.
They have 12 weeks to purchase the interiors and then just 6 days to turn their properties into Showhouses and on the 7th day the public will vote on the winning interior.
