High Road Low Road

High Road, Low Road is a fun, travel show which pairs top celebrities and sends them off to popular holiday destinations, city break favourites and far flung places for an unforgettable adventure of discovery, culture and fun!

However…both are headed to the same location, but they’ll have very different experiences.

For one holidaymaker, it’s first class travel, luxury hotels and the finest cuisine. Five-star all the way. For their companion, it’s economy travel, budget digs and local street food.

So as one is driven off in a limo to their luxurious five-star hotel, the other sets off to find the shuttle bus to their hostel. They will meet up several times on the trip to compare notes, and gloat.

But at the end it’s interesting to hear them talk and decide who has had the better time…

Episode 3

Taking the subtropical island of Madeira by storm are Dancing with the Star’s judge Arthur Gourounlian and ever-popular professional chef Donal Skehan. Together they tear downhill in a wicker toboggan and go canyoning within spectacular nature. There is a hop on, hop off bus tour and a banana museum for one celeb while the other gets to enjoy golf, fine dining and a jeep tour. But who is going high and who is going low, in the birth-place of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Vótáil

Episode 3

In 1997 Ireland was a country on the up. The economy was booming, unemployment was tumbling and the Rainbow Coalition was a popular government. Perfect time, surely, for a summer election or would that play into the hands of seasoned campaigner, Bertie Ahern?

Series Overview

2024 was the international year of the election and, with the ink still drying on ballot papers throughout Ireland, this series takes a look back at some of the general elections that shaped Irish society in past fifty years. Vótáil features interviews with journalists and commentators who have lived and loved Irish politics for years. Presented by Cormac Ó hEadhra, the series is a reminder that, for many of us, politics is at its most entertaining at election time.

HOLIDAY IDEAS IRELAND 2025

This evening’s Nationwide programme looks at potential holiday ideas in Ireland for 2025. The team hear about new projects, and they visit a Castle which has been completely refurbished and opened as a hotel in County Armagh and Houses for Hobbits, how a Mayo farm is booked out all year to young guests accompanied by their parents.

While the Wild Atlantic Way provides a brilliant route for visitors, it’s only a guide, you can go off route and explore some of the inland attractions.  Recently reporter Niall Martin headed to Mayo glamping near Castlebar to see what the imagination can create.

The tourism industry has ensured that a number of Ireland’s great houses have been maintained, this is as a result of many being utilised as hotels.  There are some lovely restoration projects being carried out around the country that breathe life back into formerly derelict buildings.  One such project is Killeavy Castle in Armagh which has been utterly transformed by a family with a real love for the area.
