Opera Night Bernard Clarke brings us Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor a tragic opera in three acts. Diana Damrau is Lucia, Charles Castronovo is Sir Edgardo, Ludovic Tezier is Lord Enrico Ashton, Taylor Stayton is Lucia's bridegroom, Kwangchul Youn is a chaplain, Peter Hoare is a huntsman and Rachael Lloyd is Lucia's maid. This week, tracks from flautist Emmanuel Pahud's album of music from the court of Frederick the Great; Handel's Zadok the Priest - written for the coronation of George II of England; and a piece attributed to Henry the Eighth - Pastimes in Good Company. You'll be in good company with Evelyn Grant on Saturday and Sunday from 4pm.
Nova Nova is about new music, chronicling what's radical and what's conservative, who's established and who's in the avant garde. A blend of contemporary classical, electronic and experimental music. Bernard features works from young Irish composers Neil Quigley, Amanda Feery, Raych V Corcoran and Hugh Lynch and Dublin poet Karl Parkinson reads a short piece from his new novel The Blocks, to be published by the New Binary Press on July 29th.
