Keys To My Life returns this Christmas for an extra special hour long episode featuring legendary Irish Movie Director Jim Sheridan, the man whose Oscar success with My Left Foot in 1990 kickstarted the modern Irish film industry.
From his childhood home in a boarding house off Dublin’s Sheriff Street, to the multi million euro architectural wonder he built cantilevered over the Irish Sea in Dalkey, Jim Sheridan tells the story of his life within the walls of the places where that life was so successfully lived.
Accompanied by Keys To My Life presenter Brendan Courtney, Jim’s journey takes in his first married home in Ballybough – the kind of late Victorian 3 bed nobody wanted back in the 70’s – to the tenement rooms in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen where Jim and his young family landed penniless in the early 80’s. The selfsame place where Jim’s filmmaking dreams took form and became a reality.
Success brought ever larger houses in ever more affluent neighbourhoods, but those ‘trophy’ homes came at a huge personal cost…
This one-hour episode of the hit series Keys To My Life comes to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Friday 26 December
