This evening, Nationwide shows the work of a Dublin artist Gerard Byrne and sees how it has been impacted by Covid-19.  Plus Niall Martin visits a new gallery which was opened to house part of the famous art collection of Kilkenny Castle and also to display the latest work by some of our new and up and coming Irish artists.

WEDNESDAY 20TH JANUARY
DUBLIN ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMME
On this evening’s programme, Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh looks at buildings and spaces featured in the recent Open House architecture festival which was predominantly online. And Nationwide shows a piece of new architecture that is not a building but rather a play park for children and teenagers in Ballyfermot, a great amenity for young people.

FRIDAY 22ND JANUARY
PROGRAMME FOCUSING ON TRAMORE IN COUNTY WATERFORD
This evening, Nationwide is in the seaside town of Tramore in County Waterford to meet some of the community groups who have made great contributions to the development of the town. With humble beginnings as a small fishing village, the area saw rapid development with the arrival of the railway from Waterford city in 1853.  Initially the town flourished as a tourist destination but Tramore has now became a satellite town of Waterford city, with a growing population, emerging businesses and a collection of community groups which contribute to the town’s success.  Like many communities all around the country, the people of Tramore have come together, to face a year where the Covid pandemic brought challenges, like never before.  This evening we discover what makes Tramore work, as one of the fastest growing towns in the country.  We hear how the town is fast becoming a foodie destination and we pay a visit to the Japanese Gardens located there.
