1916 – Dearcadh na hÓige is a seven programme series on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, featuring imaginative programmes by secondary school students from across Ireland who were chosen from entries to a 1916 Radio Competition run by the station. Today, at a special event in the Mansion House, Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh will present the school behind the winning programme with a cheque for €1000. The programme will be broadcast live, and presented by Sinéad Ní Uallacháin. The schools in the final stage of the competition are: Coláiste an Eachréidh in Co. Galway, Pobalscoil Chloich Cheann Fhaola in Co. Donegal, Our Lady’s Grammar School in Newry, Co. Down, Coláiste Íde in An Daingean Co. Kerry, Gairmscoil na bPiarsach in Ros Muc, Co. Galway, Clonkeen College in Blackrock in Dublin, and Coláiste Íosagáin in Booterstown in Dublin. This is part of the RTÉ Reflecting the Rising programming.
