“Frank The Plumber” Season 3, Episode 9
Fiona starts a new office job as a temp at Worldwide Cup, but has a hard time fitting in with the corporate culture. When her co-workers report her for having ‘porn’ on her work computer, she meets Mike (guest star JAKE McDORMAN), the affable head of her department. Mike tells her she’s doing a great job — but to tone the salty language down a notch. Fiona likes it here.
Frank’s gout is flaring up and since he’ll be in need of some medical care, he’s hoping to obtain domestic partnership rights for living with his new roommate, Christopher. When he’s denied benefits, Frank’s tirade to a local politician winds up on the news — and Frank inadvertently becomes the face of the gay rights movement!
Confronting the difficulties of living in squalor — losing his car and being robbed at gunpoint by a little girl — Jimmy shows up at the hospital to talk to Andy about the possibility of returning to Med School.
Meanwhile, Lip is upset Mandy has been applying to colleges for him. An MIT alumni rep shows up to interview Lip and Lip calls him out on the pointlessness of higher education.
Debbie calls in sick to school to take care of a depressed Sheila. Kev and V debate about circumcision. Mickey badly beats Ian for trying to force him to come to terms with his sexuality.
Fiona is offered an extension on her temp job. Frank meets Abraham Paige (guest star BRADLEY WHITFORD), a member of the ‘Velvet Mafia’ who offers to clean Frank up and transform him into the next Joe the Plumber: ‘Gay Joe’.
Sheila and Karen reconcile, moments before Karen is hit by a car.
