About Pirate Predator
Set against the backdrop of Pirate Radio in the late 1970s and into the 80s in Dublin, Pirate Predator is a brand-new true crime podcast series, from the award-winning RTÉ Doc on One team. Narrated by documentary maker and author of Radio Radio Peter Mulryan, Pirate Predator tells the story of Eamon Cooke, a man of many faces, who ran the pirate station Radio Dublin from the late 70s and into the 90s, and who to this day is one of Ireland’s most prolific child sexual abusers.
With Eamon Cooke’s profile at its peak during his time in radio, this podcast unveils the breath of crimes committed by ‘Captain Cooke’, that span a number of decades. This cold case is brought to life in Pirate Predator, which sheds light on the shortcomings of the state to bring him to justice, with numerous victims and survivors of abuse telling their stories as never heard before. Episodes feature interviews with state officials, victim impact statements, and family testimonials.
From the RTÉ Doc on One team who brought you the award-winning podcasts First Conviction, The Nobody Zone, Finding Samantha, Runaway Joe, The Real Carrie Jade, Stolen Sister, and Where is Jón?
The fourth podcast episode drops on Monday 1 June. Also airing Sundays at 7.30pm on RTÉ Radio 1.
