First Dates Ireland

Thursday April 30 at 9.35pm on RTÉ2.

As the current season of First Dates Ireland draws to a close, Mateo, Niall, Alice, and Pete discuss dating etiquette, red flags and memorable matchups as we raise a toast to some of the year’s best killer lines, cringe-inducing clangers, loved-up lotharios, awky mo-mos, bathroom besties and beautiful dreamers.

Standout moments include the unforgettable pairing of spiritual single mum Boo (32) with fellow Kildare woman and self-confessed ‘wreck the head’ tattoo artist Lisa (36) from Athy. When a seemingly innocent bouquet led to the suggestion of ‘flowers with benefits’, Boo was stunned, and not in a good way. In hindsight, even Lisa thought it was ‘a bit much’.

When it came to the perfect match, no one delivered like larger than life site foreman James (23) from Clondalkin and Fayth (21) from East Wall. James came looking for a wife and – once his ‘f-ing lethal personality’ got the seal of approval from Fayth’s mammy – expectations were high – especially Fayth’s. The stars aligned for our gorgeous couple and they are expecting a girl baby this summer.

And who could forget our two oldest daters to date? Proving that some of the best love songs are classics, we revisit the matchup of former showband frontman Kevin from Swords (89) and sprightly 88 year old rock ‘n’ roll fan Georgina from Cabra who pre-warned her son he ‘might be getting a new daddy’.
