NATIONWIDE WEEK 15

MONDAY 13TH APRIL

PRESENTER BLÁTHNAID NÍ CHOFAIGH

ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMME

This evening, the Nationwide team explores some very interesting Art Deco buildings in Dublin, meeting some of the property owners to uncover the history of this distinctive architectural style and its influences.

The Art Deco style gave the world a new look in the 1920s and 30s. It was premiered at an international trade fair in France just over 100 years ago during what was known as the Jazz Age.  Although Ireland has less Art Deco than other countries, Dublin has some fine examples of its architecture, and reporter John Kilraine has been finding out all about it.

WEDNESDAY 15TH APRIL

PRESENTER ANNE CASSIN

PROGRAMME FROM COURTMACSHERRY IN COUNTY CORK

Nationwide travels to the West Cork village of Courtmacsherry to explore the harbour village and meet residents who take great pride in their community, its rich history, and their hopes for its continued development in the years ahead.
