Loglines and Synopses

Episode 101: Crunch Time – Saturday 14 February

Logline:

When the Crew pick up Crunch- a carrot-like alien marooned on a remote world, they agree to get him home safely- that’s if Bubby doesn’t eat him first!

Short Synopsis
When tasked with delivering Crunch, an adorable and edible-looking alien that resembles a carrot, to his homeworld, the crew grows increasingly paranoid that Bubby’s legendary appetite for real carrots might spell doom for their new friend. They pull out all the stops to keep Bubby distracted—from elaborate games to questionable food substitutes—but their growing suspicions are ultimately proven wrong. In a delightful twist, Bubby surprises everyone by proving he’s not the threat they imagined. A light-hearted romp about overcoming prejudice, trust, and the sweet surprises of friendship.

Longer Synopsis (under 300 words)

The Crew answer a distress signal from Kuroda Nova, a remote, uninhabited world, there they find Crunch, who’s been stranded there on his way to the Garden Nebula. Crunch bears a remarkable resemblance to a carrot, and Bubby immediately takes him under his wing while Adam and Zuzu chart a course to the Garen Nebula. But Zuzu becomes worried that Bubby might have an ulterior motive for his OTT hospitality when it comes to Crunch; Speedy has to agree- after all, rabbits love to eat carrots- it’s just in their nature.

Adam thinks Bubby should be given the benefit of the doubt, but to be on the safe side, he suggests they keep the big bunny occupied until they reach their destination. And what better way to fill the time than to finally get some chores done- while Shelby keeps an eye on Crunch. Adam and the crew get busy tidying, scrubbing and polishing the ship- inside and out. And it seems to work- whether hes cleaning the windows with a squeegee, pruning plants or sweeping toys under a rug, Bubby is gung-ho to get through his tasks and get back to his pal Crunch.

When Zuzu, Speedy and Adam finally get through their chores, they are surprised to hear that Bubby’s beaten them to the Crunch-literally. He’s on the Bridge when they find him, and it looks like he’s just finished eating something orange and crunchy….nachos! Adam and Zuzu are relived to find Crunch alive and well and polishing off a plate of food Bubby’s prepared for him. Crunch is dropped safely home and as they speed away, another distress call comes in- this time from Crumblor, leader of the Nom Noms- who looks exactly like a giant chocolate chip cookie!

Episode 102: Bromelian Rhapsody – Saturday 14 February

Logline: The Crew pick up a garbled distress call from Bromelia-7 and find Broe, an alien with voice-changing powers.

Short Synopsis
The crew’s latest mission takes a chaotic turn when they land on the planet Bromelia, where a strange phenomenon scrambles their ability to communicate effectively. With misunderstandings mounting and tensions running high, Adam and the team must find a way to bridge the gap—and survive their visit—before their mission falls apart completely. A quirky, laugh-out-loud exploration of the value of teamwork, even when no one’s on the same page.

Longer Synopsis

The Crew pick up a distress call- at least they think that’s what it i…not even Zuzu can understand it, and she speaks a gazillion alien dialects. Even Shelby’s data banks draw a blank. Theres nothing for it but to go to the source of the signal, a dusty, windswept plant called Bromelia 7- to investigate.

Once landed, they start to try to track the signal- and follow a snaking set of strange tracks through the sandy soil. But as they pursue the signal- one by one their voices begin to change- first Bubby ends up with a permanent echo (even though he isn’t standing anywhere echoey) , the Zuzu’s voice goes completely backwards, Speedy’s changes to something like a 1990s modem sound and Shelby is speaking…French?

Adam is baffled, but just then they finally catch up with the creature who sent the distress call- a strange plant-like being called Broe. Adam tries to ask it questions and the whole Crew chime in, unintelligibly! It’s only then that Adam realises when they all speak together, they sound just like this alien! He’s trying to communicate with them! Using Zuzu’s translator, Adam tunes it to this newly discovered language (Bromelian), and they discover this creature indeed needs their help. Transporting him to a safe soft where he can find root during the typhoon season, their new pal (Broe) bids them adieu, and they are once again on their way to the next mission- their voices back to normal (except Bubby, whose got his face stuck in a tub of frozen Yoghurt).

Episode 103: Bubby’s Final Curtain  – Sunday 15 February

Logline

When Bubby’s over-the-top space opera videos get mistaken for real galactic threats, the crew must stage his greatest performance yet — or risk total annihilation.

Short Synopsis

Bubby’s dreams of galactic superstardom turn into an interstellar nightmare when his homemade space opera is mistaken for reality by the hyper-literal Zorlaks—an alien species incapable of understanding fiction. They take one look at Bubby’s villainous performance and declare him a real-life cosmic menace. Now, the Zorlaks are demanding his immediate arrest and handover, convinced they must save the galaxy from his evil reign! With diplomacy failing and the Zorlaks refusing to believe in “make-believe,” the crew’s only option is to out-act the mess they’ve made—staging an epic showdown where Bubby’s villain character, General Blubbotron,  is defeated on screen. But will Bubby stick to the script, or will his love of the spotlight put them all in even bigger trouble?

Longer Synopsis

When Bubby uploads the latest chapter of his amateur space opera — starring himself as the hammy villain “General Blubbortron” — he unwittingly triggers a galactic crisis. A stern alien race known as the Zorlaks intercept the video and believe it to be a real threat. In a flash, the Shelby is caught in a tractor beam and given five minutes to surrender the villain… or face total destruction.

As Bubby basks in the idea that his performance is “too powerful,” the rest of the crew scrambles to explain that it was all just acting. Unfortunately, the Zorlaks don’t know what “acting” — or “fun” — even is. Each attempt to clarify only makes things worse, and Bubby’s stubborn commitment to the bit nearly gets them vaporized.

Realizing the Zorlaks aren’t evil, just deeply confused, Adam proposes a creative solution: finish the Blubbortron saga for them — with a dramatic finale that shows the villain being defeated. With only minutes to spare, the crew stages a dazzling performance using sound effects, holograms, and a delightfully over-the-top death scene by Bubby. The Zorlaks are moved to tears, convinced justice has been served, and release the ship.

As the crew sighs in relief, Bubby is already preparing his next act, this time as “Princess Starbunny of the Cosmic Kingdom.” The Shelby warps away — leaving his melodramatic cries echoing in space.

Episode 104: Another Groobling?   – Sunday 15 February

Logline:

Zuzu is thrilled to meet another Groobling—until the newcomer starts copying her every move, word, and thought. Is this kinship… or something much weirder?

Short Synopsis

Zuzu is stunned to discover another Groobling stranded on a moon—and at first, it’s a dream come true. Zaza, the new arrival, seems just like her. A little too like her. From mimicking her voice to stealing her bed, Zaza quickly goes from quirky to downright creepy. As Zuzu’s patience wears thin, Adam starts to suspect something isn’t right. A deeper investigation reveals that Zaza isn’t a Groobling at all, but a shapeshifting Mirrorpod who lost her memory after a crash landing. Now, with her identity restored, Zaza bids the crew farewell and returns to her real home—though not before giving Bubby one final identity crisis…

Long Synopsis

On a desolate moon, the crew responds to a mysterious distress signal—and Zuzu makes a shocking discovery: another Groobling! Her name is Zaza, and though she seems a bit dazed from her crash landing, Zuzu is overjoyed to finally meet someone like her. But soon Zaza’s behavior becomes unnerving. She mimics Zuzu’s speech, movements, even her complaints—right down to copying her bed! What starts as charming quickly becomes frustrating, and Zuzu begins to suspect that Zaza may not be who she claims.

Meanwhile, Adam and Speedy grow suspicious when the glittering trail that led to Zaza doesn’t resemble anything Groobling-related. They dig deeper and discover the truth: Zaza is actually a Mirrorpod—a timid, shapeshifting species that instinctively copies others when scared. Zaza had forgotten who she was after bumping her head during the crash.

When confronted, Zaza is embarrassed but relieved to remember her true form. She reverts into a shimmering green blob, and the team helps reunite her with the Mirrorpod homeworld. Zuzu, though a little shaken by the whole experience, realizes she doesn’t need a twin to know who she is—and that even a Mirrorpod can be a good friend (as long as they stop turning into Bubby).

In the end, Zaza’s final transformation into a waving Bubby sends the real Bubby screaming into the stars once again—proving that one Bubby is, in fact, enough for any galaxy.
