Katherine O’Leary
For the past 22 years, Katherine O’Leary has written a weekly column in the Irish Farmers Journal, documenting her day-to-day life on her family’s dairy farm, near Tower in Co Cork.
But well into calving season, the busiest time of year on any dairy farm, caring for the farm’s newest arrivals is a passion for Katherine, that has taken on deeper meaning since her first cancer diagnosis six years ago.
Ella McSweeney visits Katherine and her family to see how they are coping during this difficult time.

Flooding
Over recent weeks, Ireland has experienced prolonged spells of heavy rain and storms, making it the wettest January since 2018.
This sustained rainfall has caused significant flooding to homes and businesses across the east and southeastern counties. But it has also impacted farmers.
Stephen Robb travelled to Co.Wexford to meet one such farmer, who just two weeks ago, woke to find his fields and farm yard under water.
Ear to the Ground is produced by indiepics for RTÉ.
