Santa’s Holiday

When Santa finishes delivering presents all around the world, it’s time for the Elves in Santa’s Village to celebrate! There’s music, games, and lots of treats waiting for everyone. All the elves are ready to have fun—everyone except Arthur. He just can’t stop working!

Determined to help, cheerful little Maeve and her clever dog, Rocket, have a plan. They’re going to help Arthur put down his tools and join the party. But as Maeve tries to get him to relax, will she remember to enjoy the magic of Christmas herself?

Synopsis

After a busy year making and wrapping Christmas presents and delivering them within a tight deadline, Santa’s Village is celebrating a well-deserved Christmas holiday. On the morning of Christmas Day, all the elves gather in the big festive hall. Only one elf is missing, and that is the hard-working Arthur who is still busy working away in the workshop. Maeve, the littlest elf, is asked by Santa to go and fetch Arthur and lock up the workshop. But Arthur does not want to stop working.
Santa declares that the Christmas Holiday has officially started! Maeve is very responsible and wants to make sure everyone follows Santa’s instructions. Maeve whispers to her dog Rocket that she will make sure Arthur will have a holiday too!

The Elves’ Christmas Holiday is an action packed two weeks of sports days, pantomimes, fireworks and concerts. As everyone is letting loose and celebrating, poor old Maeve and Rocket spend their time chasing Arthur as he tries to ‘fix’, ‘clean’ and ‘organise’ the fun away. They have a hard time keeping Arthur in check and it’s not long before Arthur and an orchestra of elves are sledding through Santa’s Village on an escaped concert stage.

Maeve and Rocket are exhausted. Maeve feels she has failed in her task for Santa. She wanted so badly to do a good job. But Santa wonders who put Maeve in charge of Arthur? It certainly wasn’t him? Maeve admits that she took it upon herself to do it. Santa laughs – Arthur has spent his holiday working and Maeve has spent her holiday working by watching Arthur! Maybe they’re a bit more alike than Maeve realised? Maeve and Arthur look at each other and start laughing too. Arthur, wiping his eyes, says he can’t help himself. For him, being busy is like a holiday. He gets stressed when there is nothing to do. Maeve realises she was so stuck in her idea of how things should go on this special holiday, that she forgot it was supposed to be fun. Luckily there is just enough time left for her to join the party.
