Join the TODAY show with Maura & Dáithí as they get ready for Christmas! In this one hour special, the studio gang will be making their last minute preparations for the big day. They will be looking back at Christmas past, exploring the real meaning of Christmas with trips to Rome and Limerick and wrapping it all up in some beautiful musical performances.
Folklorist Shane Lehane will set the mood with his unique nostalgic look back at Christmas past. Chef Kevin Dundon in studio with a veritable feast of food, giving the TODAY show viewers the hints and tips they need for a terrific turkey and the perfect ham.
Music is provided by the scrubs choir – a choir comprising of the medical staff from CUH. They’ll tell viewers what its like to working and away from family on the big day. Songbird Sibéal Ní Chasaide will also be in studio with a heart rending version of Oiche Chuin.
Both Nuala Carey and Marty Morrissey are out and about ahead of the show. Nuala is in Dingle with the Wren boys as they prepare for their annual pilgrimage. While Marty Morrissey is in Limerick on TODAY show duty meeting a man who typifies the meaning of Christmas and has done for the last 25 years- raising over half a million euro in the process. Reporter Colm Flynn will be in St Peters Square, Rome to relay how the Vatican prepares for the biggest, most important time of the year.
