Home Rescue: The Big Fix is a heart-warming mix of human stories and home makeover – a whirlwind of decluttering, teamwork and positivity – changing people’s lives for the better by redesigning their homes, replacing chaos with order and rediscovering the things that really matter. The Home Rescue crew is one big family where everyone plays their part and – for designer Dee, builder Pete and their team of fitters, painters, chippies and clutterbusters – every second counts because they have just five days to complete each makeover. That’s right: five days from first sight to finishing touches! This year, the Home Rescue team brings the Big Fix to a variety of homes in Dublin, Kildare, and Wexford.
Episode 2
In 2020, Arran Coffey and Caoimhe O’Reilly bought their forever home in Ballycanew, Co. Wexford – a place they loved so much, they held their wedding reception in the sitting room! But their lives changed forever when, at 38 weeks pregnant, Caoimhe suffered a seizure and was later diagnosed with brain cancer – just days after giving birth to their son, Frankie. With ongoing scans, the couple have been left unable to plan for the future.
With Caoimhe at risk of further seizures, Arran works from home in a cramped office. Their kitchen is falling apart, and Caoimhe, a passionate cook, struggles with the outdated kitchen space. Once a trained beautician, she also faces the emotional challenge of parting with beauty tools she can no longer use, and the huge task of recycling Frankie’s baby clothes.
Designer Dee steps in to transform their cluttered home into a safe, calming space with clear storage, an exercise area for Caoimhe, and room to breathe. Declutter expert Aidan helps Caoimhe through the tough process of letting go, while Pete the builder and his crew totally rebuild and transform the kitchen, utility, gym area and their home office! This Home Rescue is a deeply emotional one – bringing hope, comfort, and space to a young family making the most of every moment.
