2/2
Episode two brings Ken further our into the North Atlantic, Mayo in his open boat, he travels 100km west of Kerry where he finds new beautiful dolphins species in clear blue water, a huge surprise in Ireland!
Over years of ocean exploration, Ken works out where the fertile areas of the ocean are, and his journeys bring him into contact with some of the largest creatures ever to have lived, including blue and fin whales, but dolphins are ever-present.
In the middle of the North Atlantic, we meet pods of hundreds of dolphins, socialising and hunting, Ken then has a terrifying encounter False killer whales, one of our largest dolphin species, but manages to film groups of them hunting enormous ocean predators.
The story takes a dark turn as we discover thousands of dolphins are being killed every year in the Northeast Atlantic, many of them in Irish waters. Ken speaks with scientists and fisheries folks to try an understand the issue and more importantly a potential solution, referencing his own childhood fishing with his father off Kerry.
We leave the story on a positive note, recapping on what wonderous animals dolphins are an dour hope for conserving their future in our ocean waters around Ireland.
