Football Families is a new three-part documentary series exploring the world of elite soccer with some of Shelbourne Football Club's most talented young players, all hoping, against all odds, to make it as professional footballers.
Filmed during Shelbourne’s historic 2024 season under manager Damien Duff, who features in the series, it offers unique behind-the-scenes access as Duff transforms the club and fosters a bond between players, fans, and the new recruits who are striving to make it in the often cutthroat world of elite level soccer.
Each episode features teenagers who are committed to achieving their dreams in the face of extreme pressure, scrutiny, injuries, and setbacks while also revealing how their passion for the sport impacts on their families’ lives. These teenagers all want to make the big step up to Duff’s league champion squad in the dog-eat-dog world of pro football.
