PROGRAMME FROM BUNDORAN, COUNTY DONEGAL

In the fourth episode of Nationwide’s Summer Holiday series, this evening the team visits Bundoran in County Donegal, one of Ireland’s top seaside towns and a popular destination with both families and adventure seekers.  Presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh explores its rich history and vibrant tourism scene, from sea swimming and surfing to art and adventure, Bundoran offers something for everyone.

Bundoran natives, historian Emmet Travers and hotelier Brian McEniff, share stories of the town’s past and present, while artist Kevin Lowery and surf entrepreneur Pete Craig capture the town’s blend of creativity and coastal charm.

Bláthnaid also meets Bundoran Adventure Park owner Michelle Wilmot and takes a spin on the Ferris wheel to soak up the seaside fun.

WEDNESDAY 30TH JULY

PRESENTER BLÁTHNAID NÍ CHOFAIGH

TRADITIONAL MUSIC AND HERITAGE PROGRAMME

From rediscovering forgotten heritage on Inis Mór to celebrating inclusive traditions at the Fleadh, Nationwide showcases the many ways Irish culture continues to grow, connect and welcome all.

It’s Fleadh season, as traditional Irish musicians, singers, and dancers compete at county and provincial Fleadhanna for a chance to perform at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Wexford this August. In Mayo, Comhaltas has introduced a new Cuimsiú or ‘inclusive’ competition, giving people with disabilities or additional needs the chance to take part. The idea came from teenager Hannah Dunford, inspired by her older brother’s performances. Reporter Tommy Stenson met Hannah and other competitors at Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo in Ballina.

Also on the programme, reporter Niall Martin travels to Inis Mór Island in County Galway where he meets a Waterford man who has discovered a part of Irish heritage that was long forgotten, the ancient tradition of stone lifting.

FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST

PRESENTER BLÁTHNAID NÍ CHOFAIGH
