AEDÍN IN THE AFTERNOON

‘By recording this album, I hope to share the story of this historically important composer and to encourage listeners to discover the origins of the Nocturne.’ – Alice Sara Ott.

We will take a listen this afternoon to the nocturnes of John Field recently recorded by pianist Alice Sara Ott. Impressive guitar playing from Shane Hennessy and Sean Shibe, and Sarah Chang is the soloist in Dvorak’s Romance in F Minor. We’ll also dip into Philip Glass’s songs cycle based on the poetry of Leonard Cohen.  An alternative recording of Deborah’s Theme from Once Upon a Time in America by Ennio Morricone played by saxophonist Dayna Stephens and pianist Brad Mehldau and favourite songs from Joni Mitchell and Tony Bennett.
