Overview

The spectacular national St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns to the streets of Dublin on Monday, March 17th.

The theme of this year’s global celebration of Irish arts, culture and heritage is Adventures (Eachtraí), representing the famed adventurous spirit that lives inside us all. That innate ability as a nation to overcome our fears, and turn any challenge we face into an adventure, forging new paths as we go.

This St. Patrick’s Festival, Dublin invites people to a celebration like no other, culminating in the iconic parade through the city streets that promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Experience the world-famous parade and immerse yourself in pop-up performances and the cultural delights of a city that’s bursting with life.

In this year’s RTÉ One live broadcast, the parade will feature some incredible floats, including  Sproí ,VolkiDana  and Buí Bolg.  Macnas makes a welcome return to the Dublin parade.

Dáithí will be the anchor on O’Connell St. Bridge, Sarah will lead us through every participant from the commentary box, and Emer and Crossy will be in the crowds and on the floats.

In this year’s broadcast, we will capture that sense of adventure from the parade and also the pop up performances that will take place around the city.

St. Patrick’s Festival has grown from a single-day to a multi-day event featuring music, performance, spectacle, dance, theatre, literature, visual arts, food, community activations and much more. It is recognised globally as one of the world’s biggest festivals.  And Sarah, Dáithí, Emer and Crossy will be at the heart of this event.

In this year’s show we will see all the colour and creativity this nation, and beyond, has to offer.  The big bands will be back including Illinois State University, The University of Central Florida Marching Knights and Grapevine High School Mustang Band. Dublin Zoo will make an incredible appearance with a breath-taking float and Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre make a welcome addition to the parade.
