FRESH SCREENS 2025: SHOWCASING THE NEXT GENERATION OF IRISH FILMMAKERS

The series, Fresh Screens 2025, is a collaboration between the Hothouse Project at Fresh Film, RTÉ, and Screen Ireland. This initiative supports talented young filmmakers—many of whom work independently—by providing them with an immersive, hands-on filmmaking experience that challenges and refines their skills.

The Hothouse Project is dedicated to nurturing and championing the next generation of filmmakers, offering a creative and supportive space for young storytellers to develop their ideas and projects. Fresh Film, an organisation committed to inspiring and celebrating young filmmakers aged 7-18, plays a pivotal role in fostering emerging talent. Fresh Screens 2025 features films created by participants in the advanced Hothouse program, alongside award-winning entries from Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year competition.

“We are delighted that these films now have the opportunity to reach such a wide audience,” said Jayne Foley director of Fresh Film. “RTÉ’s ongoing commitment to showcasing the work of young filmmakers is truly commendable.”

The Hothouse program—supported by Screen Ireland, RTÉ, and The Arts Council—continues to be a cornerstone in the development of young Irish filmmaking talent. This year, the eight selected filmmakers explored the theme of Home, offering personal and thought-provoking reflections on what it means to them.

At Fresh Film, our mission remains steadfast: to foster, support, and spotlight the creativity of young filmmakers. Fresh Screens 2025 is a testament to that vision, celebrating the voices of Ireland’s next generation of storytellers.
