Earthrise is a new album that showcases the extraordinary talents of Musici Ireland and their commitment to modern chamber music. The title track is a viola concerto by Liam Bates which draws inspiration from the more exquisite imagery of our planet, which showcases how nature thrives most when allowed to follow its own natural course – this is where the Earth’s ascent occurs.
‘With a vibrant melodic palette, the concerto showcases the viola’s distinctively soulful resonance and remarkable versatility, embodying the role of the wandering observer, actively participating in the world it inhabits.’ – Liam Bates
Some very fine Irish tunes too from Brídín, Alannah Thornburgh and Síle Denvir. Film music by Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias and Argentine composer and guitarist Gustavo Santaolalla and vocals treats from Dianne Reeves, Nina Simone, Melody Gardot and Anne Sofie von Otter.
