'Routes' is a new series on RTÉ Radio 1 which asks the simple but profound question, 'How did I get here?' Each episode will weave together the meandering adventures and musical biography of a special guest. Episode 1 features the journey of Rick Epping; how he came from Southern California in the dazzling golden age of Hollywood to settle in South Sligo and the quiet townland of Carrickbanaghar. Rick was drawn to travel the world in search of music and friendship from an early age. His musical depth and knowledge making him one of the world's foremost instrument-makers as well as finding a home in the traditional music heartland of the Irish northwest.
