18.00-19.00 Sunday 29th December – Making it in Ireland’s comedy scene
Ireland’s comedy scene has produced world famous names like Tommy Tiernan and Joanne McNally but in the basement rooms of pubs and podcast studios across the country, the next generation of comics are honing their talent. Eimer McAuley follows standups Allie O’Rourke, Kevin Larney and others on a hectic week of club night slots to find out about the realities of pursuing comedy fulltime in one of Europe’s most expensive cities. She also joins Cork’s Kyla Cobbler, who recently sold out the Ambassador, and John Meagher, dubbed ‘the next great Irish comedian’ by Rolling Stone, for a behind the scenes look at what it takes to break through.
