7pm to 8pm on both Christmas Day and Stephen’s Day.
A look into the incredible career and life of one of Ireland’s most important artists, in her own words.
With interviews before worldwide fame, directly after it and on through the 90s right up to a couple from the past four years, we’ll let Sinéad tell her own story.
Sinead’s first ever interview was with Dave in RTE in October 1987. Her last public appearance was when Dave introduced her on stage at Vicar Street to accept the RTE Choice award for classic album in March 2023.
Interspersed with music, this is Sinead in her own words over 4 decades. Throughout her life she endured a lot of trauma and mental health struggles and always framed her own personal tragedies in political terms in her music. Her 2nd album made her a global superstar, but she had no interest in fame or pop stardom.
For a short time in the early nineties, Sinead was the most famous pop star on the planet, relegating Madonna to second place. When she went on live US TV and tore up a picture of the Pope, people said it would kill her career. They were right….it did. That was the plan.
Sinead was decades ahead of her time, never afraid to call, out hypocrisy and was always a spiritual seeker in the deepest sense.
She made her final recordings with Belfast DJ, musician and composer David Holmes which will hopefully be released in 2025.
