Over six episodes, Diarmuid immerses us in the stories and music of choirs from all over Ireland. Along with beautiful renditions of songs, the series examines what motivates us to sing, and why we are drawn to singing together. It explores how raising our voices together can be healing, empowering, inspiring, and sometimes just plain good fun!
Episode 1: Forget Me Not: Tx. date: 16th December 2024
Creating a space for connection in the face of fear and isolation of dementia, the Forget Me Nots dementia friendly choir weaves in their singing and camaraderie, the threads of joy and grief, loss and laughter.
Episode 2 – Serendipity – Tx. date: 17th December 2024
To spend time with the Serendipity Chorus in Bray is to witness an exuberant celebration of life by a vibrant gang of women as they let go of the stresses of busy days, to sing and dance together Barbershop style!
Episode 3 – Work and Play – Tx. date: 18th December 2024
The Garda Ladies Choir is open to members of An Garda Síochána, as well as their family and friends. Taking a break from work, to focus on the joy of singing, can bring confidence, stress relief, and a renewed sense of self.
Episode 4 – Brave Hearts – Tx. date: 19th December 2024
Cork’s Bravehearts Choir is for all voices, no auditions just a warm welcome. Bravehearts is open to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer in any way, and whose hearts are open to the joy of human connection through song.
Episode 5: A Home in Song – Tx. date: 20th December 2024
Family comes in an all forms and the laughter and hugs at Limerick Gospel Choir are as much a part of the weekly rehearsals as the energetic singing and dancing as its members find a new sense of home.
Episode 6: Gloria – Tx. date: 23rd December 2024
Acceptance and advocacy weave their way through the story of Gloria – Dublin’s Lesbian & Gay Choir – a choir with a very special sense of belonging and a powerful sound of voices raised up in song.
