Memorial – The Story of HIV/AIDS in Ireland

Memorial – The Story of HIV/AIDS in Ireland tells the story of the virus and its impact on Irish society, while following the commissioning and creation of the recently unveiled AIDS Memorial at the Phoenix Park.

While HIV/AIDS touched every corner of Irish society, its effects on the most vulnerable were highly destructive. There have been many documentaries and drama series focused on either the global story of AIDS or Irish people who have been affected by the virus. However, there has never been a comprehensive examination of the pandemic and its effects on all sectors of society both past and present.

The makers of Memorialaudioclub.ie and Gansee Films – show how HIV/AIDS shattered lives of homosexual men, haemophiliacs, drug users, sex workers, prisoners and women when it was at its deplorable peak in the 1980s and 1990s.
