Most of the wool shorn from some 3.7 million sheep in this country is deemed to have no market value. All over the country there are sheds full of redundant sheep shearings. But wool is a natural fertiliser. An enterprising duo are now mixing wool with other waste products – coffee grinds and horse manure – to produce a pellet to condition soil and nourish plants.
- Car Battery Reboot
There’s a stadium in Amsterdam – the world famous Johann Cruyff – that’s covered with 4,200 solar panels. The excess energy generated is stored in 148 old car batteries. On a much smaller scale, the potential to use old car batteries to store and supply energy in domestic and small business settings is huge.
