The Irish Kidney Association hosts its 39th annual Multi-faith Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving in Holy Child Church, Whitehall, Dublin, bringing together organ transplant recipients, donor families, medical practitioners and IKA staff and supporters.
Sunday 17th November 11.00-11.55am
The Service is jointly led by Church of Ireland Archbishop Michael Jackson, Catholic Bishop Paul Dempsey, Shaykh Dr Umar al-Qadri, Humanist Celebrant Moya Corcoran and Parish Priest Fr Robert Smyth. The Musical Director is Kathryn Browne.

Lexi Murphy (14) from from Annestown, Waterford, who received a liver and kidney transplant from a deceased donor when she was six years old, and Yan Sun (14), from Balbriggan, Dublin who underwent a deceased donor kidney transplant when he was seven. NO REPRODUCTION FEE 13/10/2024 : DUBLIN : A congregation of close to 1600 from throughout Ireland attended the Irish Kidney Association’s 39th Annual Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving for organ donors and grateful transplant recipients in the Church of the Holy Child, Whitehall, Dublin 9. Pictured at the event were 4th generation Firefighter Ger Dolan, from the Claddagh, Galway, who is stationed at Anglesea Fire Station in Cork city, with his aunt Dolores O’Malley, from Cross, Co Mayo. Less than 3 months after Ger donated a kidney to his brother Jimmy in 2017, his cousin and Dolores’s 18-year-old daughter, Orla was in a fatal tragic road incident. Four of Orla’s organs were donated giving renewed life to others. At the Service, Dolores carried the Book of Remembrance, the roll of honour in which Orla’s and other organ donors’ names are inscribed, to the altar. Picture Conor McCabe Photography.
