The Crankie Box is a vintage storytelling device. You crank it up and add visuals to stories and music. It was the inspiration for a fascinating project by singer and composer Cathy Jordan, who took a song from each of the thirty two counties in Ireland and invited contemporary artists to respond to each with an illustration or painting. The resulting Crankie Island Song Project is a labour of love for Cathy, who will tell us about the background to this adventure, and we’ll hear some of the amazing songs from it.
