Thursday November 14th RTÉ2
Synopsis:
The highly anticipated television adaptation of Blindboy’s short story “Did You Read About Erskine Fogarty?” from his critically acclaimed first book “The Gospel According to Blindboy.”
Shot entirely on location in Limerick, the show stars Robert Sheehan in an unforgettable performance in the lead role alongside other Irish stars including Peter Coonan and Siobhan O’Kelly. It features a stand out debut from Limerick native Thomas O’Halloran.
A grim, absurdist comedy, it follows a day in the life of Erskine Fogarty, a man falling apart. He returns from snobby Dublin to his hometown of Limerick during the depths of the crash, having lost his family, his job, his house and (almost) all his worldly goods.
Over the course of a day and a night, he drags his last possession in the world, a huge American fridge, through the ruins of Limerick, to Caherdavin, where he grew up, while gradually losing touch with reality, and retreating to the one thing he was always good at remembering facts.
It’s a story about the macro and micro effects of capitalism, and what global economic forces do to individual cities, and individual people. It’s also a story about a lad with a fridge who knows a lot of facts.
