Author and journalist Fintan O’Toole tells Joe Duffy about his Catholic, working class, Crumlin upbringing, including a close encounter as an altar boy with the legendary Archbishop John Charles McQuaid. Whilst no longer personally religious, O’Toole is concerned about the idea of a moral vacuum or God-shaped hole in our more secular culture and seeks to imbue his own life with meaning through love and “the moments your heart pounds.”
