This week Nationwide visits Tidy Town winning locations, looks back on 75 years of The Rehab Group supporting people with disabilities to lead more independent lives in their communities, and the meets some of the people nominated for the National Bravery Awards 2024.
MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER
The Nationwide team visit the winning locations of the Tidy Towns competition 2024 including, Ireland’s tidiest village, tidiest small town, large town and Ireland’s tidiest large urban centre along with the overall winning location. Presenters Bláthnaid NíChofaigh and Anne Cassin meet the volunteers in the various locations, and find out about how they got to the top in the competition which attracted over 900 entries from all over the country.

Nationwide looks back on 75 years of The Rehab Group supporting people with disabilities to lead more independent lives in their communities, and meets some of those who have benefitted from the support of the organisation over the years.
Originally set up to help Tuberculosis patients, it started operations in one room of a terraced house and has grown exponentially since then. While most of its work now involves providing care, it still maintains its original purpose of helping people with disabilities through training and employment opportunities. Reporter John Kilraine looks back on the history of this not-for-profit organisation.
Nationwide also travels to County Louth to see an example of the service that RehabCare offers to actors who have an intellectual disability. Reporter Valerie Waters went to Dundalk to meet the talented cast and crew of Encore Productions.
