Glyndebourne Festival Opera makes its traditional visit to the Proms with that most red-blooded of red-blooded operas, Carmen. Bizet’s musical tale of a Gypsy factory-worker sung by Rihab Chaieb, who seduces a military corporal sung by Evan LeRoy Johnson before discarding him for the more glamorous toreador sung by Lukasz Golinski. The opera has all the ingredients of a tightly sprung operatic drama. Anja Bihlmaier conducts Glyndebourne’s cast and chorus, along with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in this production recorded in the Royal Albert Hall on the 29th August 2024.
