Episode Five – Switzerland
Aileen Woulfe and her husband Ronan Fitzgerald, both in their fifties, have been living in Switzerland for the last twenty years. They run Happy Dogs Aigle, a dog boarding and daycare service with a luxury feel. Baz helps out with the canine guests and, over a fondue with the pair, learns about Aileen and Ronan’s new life in Switzerland.
Escaping the rain, Baz travels to a neighbouring area where he meets Clondalkin couple Sophie Shannon and Bartosz Guszul, both in their early twenties, who moved to Switzerland two years ago. On a scenic cable car ride, followed by a hike, Baz learns what they love so much about Switzerland.
At teatime, Baz drops into Aileen Ryan Buhler’s tearoom to meet the Limerick woman who has been living in Switzerland for the last 35 years. Here, he meets a group of Irish women who are new and old to the country, while sampling Aileen’s delicious home baked cakes.
