Episode Two
In the second episode of the series Baz Ashmawy visits Lisbon where he meets bar owner Peter Jaeger O’Connor from Tallaght, and Neil Duggan, from Galway, who has bought an apartment in the city. Baz travels to the Algarve to visit yoga teacher and retreat host Sarah Shannon from Dublin.
Peter Jaeger O’Connor, in his forties, from Tallaght, Dublin has lived in Lisbon for almost five years where he runs a cocktail bar. Peter was able to make his dream of owning his own bar a reality in a city where it was affordable for him to buy a small premises. There he met his Brazilian wife Joana and together they run Onda Cocktail Room. The couple take Baz outside of the city to a spectacular walking trail they enjoy on their days off and by night Baz turns mixologist and waiter, although Joana isn’t all that certain of his abilities. Let’s just say he’ll stick to the TV presenting….
While exploring Lisbon, Baz meets Galway man Neil Duggan and his Brazilian boyfriend Denny Douglas, who left Ireland for Portugal five years ago. Having bought an apartment in the city, the couple love the lifestyle Lisbon has to offer to them.
Baz swaps the city streets of Lisbon for the sea shore in Quinta do Lago to meet another Irish expat. Sarah Shannon, in her late thirties, from Dublin has lived in Portugal for the last three years. She swapped a career in corporate law for a holistic path and now runs Sarah Shannon Yoga. Completely content with her new life Sarah and her husband are planting firm roots building their forever home in the Algarve. Baz visits the site to hear of their exciting future plans.

In the second instalment of this popular series for RTÉ One, Baz Ashmawy returns, bag packed and passport in hand, to hit the road to meet Irish people who have left Ireland behind to set up home somewhere else in the world.
Over the six episodes Baz meets a variety of Irish people who have settled abroad and finds out about their adopted home when it comes to how they live, work and play.
Across the series, Baz visits Belgium, Portugal, France, Sweden, Switzerland, and Cyprus. In each country he spends time with a host of Irish expats, learning about their new lives and country, finding out why, for them, it’s the Best Place To Be.
