From street crime and mental health “callouts” to combating violent or serious criminals, there is no “normal day in the office” for the men and women of An Garda Síochána. This series goes behind the front desks, inside the patrol cars and on the beat with frontline Gardaí across Dundalk, Longford and Waterford. Filmed over three months, we witness the challenges and issues being faced by the Gardaí policing urban and rural Ireland.
Under pressure with logistical and resource challenges, a fundamental change in the Irish landscape and an exponential rise in crime, these are testing times for the people tasked with crime prevention & reduction and maintaining community relations in Irish towns and the often-forgotten rural regions. The series will follow a number of different Gardaí, ranging in age and rank, as they carry out their daily duties. From foot and car patrol, station front desk and support work, criminal investigations through to community policing and supporting regional or national Garda operations. This series follows members of An Garda Síochána working at a grass-root level, as we look at the role Gardai play within the communities they are tasked with serving and protecting, where no day is ever the same.
