Verdi Requiem
Conductor Jaime Martín conducts the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and a quartet of star soloists – Miah Persson (soprano), Jennifer Johnston (mezzo-soprano), Valentyn Dytiuk (tenor), Evgeny Stavinsky (bass) – in music cast on the grandest of scales. Shot through with operatic intensity, it thrills in its contrasts between the hushed prayers of repentant sinners, ecstatic dancing angels, and a terror-inducing depiction of the Day of Judgement.
