community, showcasing their transition from nomadic to settled life. It emphasizes the
pivotal roles of progressive Traveller women and men, who set a precedent within their
community by pursuing their passions and achieving independence. Mincéir also
underscores the importance of preserving Traveller traditions, which have survived
primarily through oral histories, songs, and stories.


With contributions from influential community members and groups, Mincéir
addresses the challenges faced by Travellers, including discrimination, and advocates
for their rights, health, and better living conditions. The film introduces audiences to the
Cant language and is a testament to the Traveller community’s significant impact on
Irish history.
