HOME RESCUE 2024: EPISODE SIX – Jane Dalton and Peter Cowell, Lucan, Co. Dublin
**LAST EPISODE IN THE SERIES**
Peter Cowell and Jane Dalton and their kids Alice (13) and Peter Jr (10) moved into a semi-d in Lucan, Co. Dublin after the couple spent two decades moving between England, Scotland and Ireland.
Dad Peter faced a life-altering industrial accident, losing his left arm, prompting a move back to Ireland. So, after various house moves, in 2019, Lucan became their home, but the house is filled with misfit furniture, clutter and unopened boxes. Their bedroom, a real source of stress, has inaccessible storage and clutter that heightens Jane’s knee issues and exacerbates Peter’s daily struggles with only one arm.
Over the years, the piles of laundry dominate rooms in the house, spilling out into a chaotic kitchen and dining room that has long since ceased to function as a family space. Music is a big part of this family – they all play instruments, but most of these are consigned to the attic.
Inaccessible and overwhelming, the house simply does not work for them. The family needs a communal space where they can all spend time together. With Dee determined to give the family the forever home they need and more importantly, adapt it to Peter’s needs, an eager group of friends and family turn up to help with the massive clearout and sorting challenge at the local community centre.
As Builder Pete and his crew get to work on bespoke cabinets and storage space- Dee an occupational therapist to help reconfigure the layout for Peter and Jane. With a new kitchen needing carefully designed presses, a bedroom to fit with accessible storage and other ingenious solutions, the Home Rescue team rise to the final challenge of the series.
