Series Overview
In an era where the definition of what a man is has come under severe scrutiny, Jordon Conroy will try and take 10 boys from different socio/economic background and with different interest and attempt to help them discover what makes a true man in a modern world. Given just two weeks to learn and practice the game of Rounders for the first time, they will have to play the All Ireland Rounders Champions in Croke Park!
Along the way they will meet an array of different people, with different skill sets who will help guide them not just to hone their sports skills but more importantly than that, to illuminate the path to adulthood and broaden the definition of what makes a real man.
But these boys, in their ordinariness, are truly inspirational. Jordon is taken aback by their honesty, by their thoughtfulness and by their emotional intelligence. in many ways Jordon becomes the pupil.
Their collective journeys reveal a quite unexpected outcome.
Episode 5.
What makes a good team captain? With only days to go the team have to select who they think is going to be their captain. This decision brings to the head some bubbling tensions. Jordon is nervous. Has he been a good friend/mentor to them? Has he helped them at all? They visit Jack Marley, heavyweight boxer who is preparing for the 2024 Olympics. Is their a more macho environment then a boxing gym? The boys are surprised by what they experience.
Like Gladiators before battle, our 10 boys sit and confide in each other their biggest fears in life. They journey is nearly over and the bond and love that exists between them is palpable. But tomorrow they go to Croke Park and play in front of their friends and family. Does humiliation await them. They have a final meal together.
