Man Up?

Series Overview

In an era where the definition of what a man is has come under severe scrutiny,Jordon Conroy will try and take 10 boys from different socio/economic background and with different interest and attempt to help them discover what makes a true man in a modern world. Given just two weeks to learn and practice the game of Rounders for the first time, they will have to play the All Ireland Rounders Champions in Croke Park!

Along the way they will meet an array of different people, with different skill sets who will help guide them not just to hone their sports skills but more importantly than that, to illuminate the path to adulthood and broaden the definition of what makes a real man.

But these boys, in their ordinariness, are truly inspirational. Jordon is taken aback by their honesty, by their thoughtfulness and by their emotional intelligence. in many ways Jordon becomes the pupil.

Their collective journeys reveal a quite unexpected outcome.

Episode 4

Dance is rhythmic. Dance is coordination. And for 14 year old boys dance is embarrassing. Jordon brings in his friend and her dancing troop to teach the boys how to dance. They are as mortified as you would think they could be. But it works. He now decides to organise their first competitive rounders game. Their opposition are an under 11 girls team. Surely these boys can beat a girls team?

Luke Bryne has invited the boys to attend a Shelbourne  football match against their arch rivals Shamrock Rovers. The atmosphere is eclectic. They had never experienced anything like that in their young lives before. As a team building exercise, it seems to have worked. With the clock ticking and time running out, will this be enough to galvanise the team before their visit to Croke Park.
