The Complaints Bureau is a new consumer series for RTÉ One. Finance expert Eoin McGee sets the caseload for three consumer journalists advocating and arguing on behalf of members of the public who have hit brick walls. The trio – Conor Pope, Amy Molloy and Siobhan Maguire tackle problems big, small and seemingly intractable. Along the way there are frustrations, dead ends, awkward interviews, cautionary tales and, sometimes at least, successful results.
In Episode 2, Conor Pope meets a couple whose dreams of a new home have been shattered by the builder who disappeared, leaving them holding their young baby, staring at an unfinished build, tens of thousands of euro out of pocket.
Amy Molloy is back in the 80s at the Forever Young festival where the truly atrocious July 2023 weather left thousands unable to attend … but also left them out of pocket and chasing refunds.
And on behalf of a wearied Dublin couple, Siobhán Maguire goes chasing a refund from a pandemic hit cancelled flight to Nice – over three and a half years ago!
