Allotments
There are an estimated 2,500 publicly provided allotments in Ireland – low by European standards. Denmark for example has some 40,000. Maeve Dineen finds a motley crew at the 76 allotments in Palmerstown, provided by South Dublin County Council.
Glenbrook Farm
Peter Twomey from Whitecross, Cork is a third generation farmer who is going against the tide – he is selling his herd and leaving dairy farming. On an emotional day, Darragh joins Peter as he bids a final farewell to the premium herd that he has spent 20 years building up.
Fermenter
Rose Green spent many years travelling the world as an-in-demand chef. But it was a chance encounter with fermented food in a restaurant in Belgium, that ended up with her returning to the family farm in Westmeath to set up their own business. Ella McSweeney spent the day with Rose and her partner Margaux to find out more about their business.
