Prof. Helen Heneghan and Prof. Donal O’Shea, who work with the HSE’s Centre for Obesity Management, issue warnings about the risks associated with individuals travelling abroad to undergo weight-loss procedures. Clinical Psychologist Dr Mallie Coyne discusses why so many people are willing to undergo risky procedures abroad in their search for perfection.

Ash Adia, a student from Cork, feels let down by the HSE and  is looking abroad for a solution to their weight issues and they discover no shortage of Turkish clinics offering surgery. We also meet Lorraine, a mother from Dublin who underwent bariatric surgery in Turkey, but needed further medical intervention from the HSE after it went wrong. Her story is a common one.

A few months after their cosmetic procedures, we reunite with Jen, Michelle, and Ronan, who speak about their experiences in Lithuania and Turkey.  Michelle and Jen talk about how they are feeling about their brand new bodies, the experience abroad and how they are recovering from surgery in Lithuania.

And, social media influencer Alan finally decides whether he’s prepared to undergo one of the riskiest surgeries available.
