Singer and actress Molly Rainford returns as intergalactic popstar 

Nova Jones 

Out-of-this-world pop sensation Nova Jones is back with a brand new series! Travelling the universe on the Jefferson Spaceship, dropping sun-shattering singles and dazzling dance routines. The queen of tantrums and tiaras has her sights set on more – more fame, more colour, more costumes, and definitely a lot more fun! 

Singer Molly Rainford, currently starring on Eastenders and finalist on Strictly Come Dancing, returns for a third series as trend-setting singing superstar Nova Jones on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player. The musical adventure series follows the intergalactic exploits of Nova and her crew on board the Jefferson Spaceship. With 13 new original songs, and new characters such as Hector The Director, a reality TV director with something to hide. The Inspector, an intergalactic police woman sent to arrest Nova for the crime of being too talented and Coach Winifred (Annabelle Davis), the diminutive but fiercely competitive Scuffleclang coach. 

From composing a song so catchy it creates its own lifeform to desperately trying to teach a  tone-deaf Bobbles to sing, viewers can expect to see their favourite popstar navigate many challenges all with the help of her hardworking sister McLaren (Grace Barkley). Special guest star Tilly Lockey also makes an appearance as rival candidate ‘Isla Veryone’ in Nova’s race to become President of The Universe.  

Returning to travel the universe with Nova is her crew are The Captain (John Lynn) and his robot arm named Digit, his excitable sidekick and big time Nova fan, Sid (David Byrne), Kid Songwriter (Samuel Palliser Kehoe), messy baby / culinary genius Chef Din-Dins (Ace Bradley Donaldson) and a crew of colourful aliens. 

Molly Rainford says: Season three of Nova Jones could not come sooner. I’ve missed Nova and her crew. They’ll be triple the laughs, triple the tunes and triple the mischief. Can’t wait! 

Nova Jones Series 3 is set to TX 22nd of September with all episodes streaming after on RTÉ Player. 

The series was filmed in Belfast with funding from Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland and produced by JAM Media for CBBC and RTÉ. The Executive Producers for JAM Media are Alan Shannon and John Rice, and Head Writer and Executive Producer Andrew Ellard, and the Executive Producer for RTE is Suzanne Kelly. It was created by Helen Serafinowicz (Motherland) with head writer Andrew Ellard (script editor for Miranda, Detectorists and Red Dwarf). Original songs are written by Matthew Graham and Jessica Hammond (Konica).
