The Fanning Files

At the end of September, U2 will play The Sphere in Las Vegas. (The schedule is 25 dates up to Christmas at that venue).

This is the new arena from the people who own Madison Square Garden in New York – a venue U2 have played more than any other (30-plus dates).

U2 is the opening act for The Sphere, which was built at a cost of a staggering 2.3 BILLION dollars!

They call the New York place ‘the world’s most famous arena’ (!) and this one ‘the most expensive music arena ever built’.

On April 1st. 1985, U2 played at MSG for the very first time and Dave was there.

At this time U2 were big but only on the cusp of greatness – this is pre-Live Aid and 2 years before the cover of Time and The Joshua Tree.

It’s a moment in time with U2 as Dave talks to the band, the crew, the merchandise guy etc. around the venue and post-gig in the venue.

It’s a full hour at MSG.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
