The Shelter: Animal SOS

‘The Shelter: Animal SOS’ is a back for a new series as our cameras continue to follow the work at Ireland’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity, the DSPCA. Since 1840 the DSPCA has been dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of Dublin’s abused and abandoned animals. Today the organisation’s headquarters in the Dublin mountains is a sanctuary for the care of all creatures great and small. There’s never a dull moment for the team of dedicated staff and volunteers who take everything in their stride.

Gloria and her pups

A pregnant dog arrives at the shelter and foster mom Christa comes to the rescue and oversees the birth of nine puppies. As they arrive back to the shelter, foster coordinator Kayleigh is on a mission to find them homes.

Daisy and Tess

Two terriers are brought into the shelter and Lynda and her team get to work on a remedial grooming session.

Sneachta

A stray cat with ear cancer undergoes life saving surgery. The white cat called Sneachta is prone to the ailment due to its light colouring and Vet Lauren will be carrying out the operation. This will be Sneachta’s first visit to the operating theatre, and it’s also a landmark experience for Lauren as it’s the first time she is doing this type of surgery.
