Contributing renowned writers include Lisa McInerney, Donal Ryan, Billy O'Callaghan, Christine Dwyer Hickey and Belinda McKeon. The cast reading the stories for the series include Pat Shortt, Daryl McCormack, Charlene McKenna and Maria Doyle Kennedy. The half-hour stories started out from a consideration of the theme 'Creatures of the Earth', the story and the title of a story collection by one of Ireland's most acclaimed writers, John McGahern.
